You peered out from your shelter,
to the dew-laden grass, strewn sassafras,
the misty fogs, sap-charged pines,
and the sun blazing through fine,
the halcyonic lake-beds suspended in depth,
the old German Shepard Tess, barks in her rest,
embers burnt low,
what did you throw?
No wood in the pile,
so you went out for a while.
You glared through the glass,
a center of mass,
the Earth! Above, below,
you did not know!
incandescent arms of the galaxy,
sociable stars writhed in gold-blue tapestries,
fast-moving dust eroded your station,
you spun lightly, clutched in gyration.
A fitting end, a smile then,
you danced with the sun again and again.
